Situated in Gordon's Bay, Le Gaulois offers Gordons Bay accommodation for a total of eight guests in four holiday apartments. The establishment boasts views of False Bay and is near to various attractions and activities in the area.  Nestled on the lower slopes of the Gordon’s Bay Mountain range. Our apartments are all north facing, giving you sun from dusk till dawn, over rendering serene views over the whole of False bay. The famous Bikini beach is a leisurely walk away from your doorstep, while a stopover in the harbour or a visit to local restaurants can be found en route.

Accommodation

Le Gaulois offers four self catering apartments located under one roof, each sleeping two guests. The private apartments each have a Queen-size bed as well as an en-suite bathroom with a shower.  There is a kitchenette in each apartment and it consists of a microwave, bar fridge, a 2-plate stove, a kettle and a toaster. The living area has a TV with comfortable furniture.


Sea Urchin

Also known to locals as “zee pampoentjies”, this apartment is first within your view when ascending the outdoor staircase to the ground level apartments. Since it attracts the eye subtly, just like a sea urchin it is furnished with delicate island styled furnishings. Sea Urchins are elusive to the untrained eyes, when walking along the sandy seashores of Gordon’s Bay, you likely to find them washed out and nestled between pebbles and rocks. This apartment is intended to give its guests the endless pleasure of looking and finding … eventually making them stay for two nights or even longer at their own whim!


La Tortue

Its setting is ideally named after a slow paced animal who enjoy taking life easy. This apartment is on ground level with a quaint little garden and BBQ area underneath a pine canopy tree. Here you can take your own home made meals and enjoy life at leisure. Accessible by outdoor staircase and a beautiful patio with guest jacuzzi a few steps away from your bedroom doors giving you the freedom to interact with other guests or enjoy the seclusion of your own “shell” This apartment is ideal for seasonal travelers looking for the southern sun during European winter months.


L'Orchidee

The adjacent apartment to Le Palmier is L’Orchidee offering its guests the feeling of beauty and tranquillity. Orchids are known for its delicateness and sensitivity in nature, it is ideally suited for a newly wedded couple or for a solitary retreat location. Its bedroom gives you the gracious comforting feeling of a canopy of palm trees to revive your senses. Cuddle up on a sunny coloured sofa with that long forgotten read you found months ago…or just fall asleep at any given hour, enjoying your bonding space or sense of silence and revitalisation. Enjoy sun downers and endless hours of magnificent scenery over the Helderberg & Hottentots Holland mountain range to the east and False Bay in the west.


La Palmier

Located on the upper level floor and accessible by private stairwell. Wake up in this bedroom facing East with the sun flooding your bedroom giving you the feeling of happiness and that endless holiday feeling. A variation of the well know tropical tree, palm trees, welcomes you into the doorway of island living and the carefree lifestyle we all dream of. Let your imagination take you places where your dreams can go beyond within the confines of your bedroom overlooking False Bay. Make Le Palmier your little piece of paradise and enjoy the rustling of the palm trees and the feeling of the ocean breeze inside it.

About Us

Le Gaulois, an oddity by name (before it changed name to France) ,at the time that the Romans were conquering the world France was named La Gaule and the inhabitants were known as Les Gaulois. For many Asterix and Obelix are well-known all over the world for their comical behaviour at the time that comic magazines were popular and a collectors item.

The owner, who hails from France, found a part of South Africa that stole his heart and calmed his nomadic feet … trampling African soils from the west coast of Africa, making his way to the southern tip, Cape Town. Venturing along the coast and falling in love with the rolling valleys and Hottentot Holland mountains in 2014 finding his way to this quiet and peaceful village styled town – Gordon’s Bay.

The couple, who met in Namibia some years ago, with a northern Brittany surname; Houalet, were well known and appreciated in Namibia for their very humble work in saving and rehabilitating Big Cats of Africa on their lodge, Amani. A change of lifestyle, brought them to Gordon’s Bay. Finding the house on the well-known Miller street in the “Old Village” made them consider and rekindle their passion for sharing their treasured locations with visitors. They started the renovations of this old family home in 2016 and took their time to find the exact materials and furnishings to create a quaint essential island style setting for each apartment.
