Activities & Attractions

Underberg forms part of the mountainous 'Barrier of Spears' uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, adorned with Stone Age cave paintings. This Heritage Site area is one of only 23 sites in the world that holds prestigious World Heritage Status for both its biodiversity and for its cultural heritage. The area is home to 350-recorded species of birds, of these, 43 species are endemic and 18 species are listed as threatened.

For the more energetic the surrounding area offers many activities such as cycling, golfing, hiking, birding, fly fishing, horse riding, kayaking, tubing or an adventurous drive up the famous Sani Pass to the highest Pub in Africa (passports required).
