Accommodation
Each cottage is very spacious and being free standing and far apart therefore offering peace, quiet and total privacy. All the cottages are serviced, self-catering units, with all bedding, linen, bath towels, kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware supplied. The cottages each have a spacious and comfortable lounge area with open Jetmaster fireplace, a dining table, a fully equipped open plan kitchen with electric stove, microwave oven, a fridge (with separate freezer compartment) and a dish washer.
Rose Cottage
Wrapped in greater comfort and space and built on a higher slope, Rose Cottage has all the luxury you need for a large family, or a group of excellent friends who wish to share two main bedrooms as well as third bed room with two single beds.

Lavender Cottage
Imagine sitting on a veranda fringed by the cool, blue mauve colour of lavender and surrounded by a horizon of sweetly swelling hills that form the outer boundaries of the Midlands. This cosy cottage is perfect for two lovers or a couple with one child and
offers one main bedroom and an extra bed tucked into the lounge.

Protea Cottage
Protea Cottage boasts one of the best views on the property, offering a sweeping vista of the far-flung hills and valleys of the Midlands. Here you can enjoy a luxury bedroom, a second bedroom with two single beds as well as a bunk bed in the passage nook
which provide an entire family, or group of friends, with plenty of space and time to unwind. And should the mood capture you, a short, leisurely walk will take you down to the banks of the Lions River.

Activities & Attractions
Activities available are mountain biking, fishing and croquet. The Midlands Meander provides shopping for ceramics, clothes and jewellery, golf courses, horse riding and Midmar Dam for water sports. Hot air balloon rides are also within easy reach of our location. We are ideally situated close to the host of Midlands Meander restaurants, crafts and shops, golf courses, fishing spots, mountain bike trails and private schools.

• Midmar Dam – This large dam, which is only an easy 10.7 kms away, is well known for its water sport activities and fishing but particularly for the annual Midmar Mile and Triathlon events. It is also a very good place to cycle and walk:
Nelson Mandela Museum – In the early “60’s Nelson Mandela was on “the run” from the authorities but was captured in Lions River, on the R103, on the 5th August 1962. On this exact site only 7.1 kms from us, a memorial to this event has been erected together with a Nelson Mandela museum.

Location & Surroundings
Lions River Country Cottages are just over an hour’s drive from Durban and about four hours from Johannesburg. We are also in the heart of the Midlands Meander which is home to many of South Africa’s most talented artists, and a tantalizing array of arts and crafts are a few tempting kilometres away. A ten minutes’ drive will take you into Howick which has an excellent variety of bars, restaurants, several shopping centres, banks, Post Office, doctors, a hospital and several places of worship.
